Cloud Music
Random thoughts on Google and Amazon’s cloud music service.
Google: I like that I can upload a bunch of songs for free, but let me do it from Linux. Updating album art is good. On my computer, playback loses the stream too often. (A few times a song, lame) Upload is slow and painful, even on full speed. Good playlist editor. Android app seems fine.
Amazon: Thanks for allowing me to upload...

Music while standing...
Its good to listen to music while using standing desks… Keeps the blood flowing. Here is what I listened to this week: Ayria, Emilie Autumn, Sarah Fimm, I:Scintilla, King Crimson and Birthday Massacre.
Sitting outside having a gin and tonic with Kirsten, reading Dead Souls by Gogol. A perfect way to start the week.
I just lost the game.
Netflix on android… works great on my Evo.
Bubble...
Yes there is another bubble. Yes its purely from the financial markets. Yes it will pop. No, I don’t know when. Yes there is inflation. Also market inflation. Government doesn’t care unless its wage inflation.
Week of being a standing developer...
After a week of developing code while standing, I have to say I feel as though I’m more productive. I have more energy during the day. Its not without some pain, though. Especially by 2PM, my feet hurt. Though my desk is motorized, I haven’t lowered it yet on these times. Just put on music and get back to work.
Honestly, the transition was easier then I expected. I figured I’d...

On my first full day using my standing desk, I’m listening to Aphex Twin. Keeps me motivated to stay standing. Legs are a bit tired, but other then that I’m doing fine. Using a chefs mat to cushion my feet, so they are fine. I’m sure I’ll start complaining soon enough.
I haven’t root my second EVO yet… I’m close. Its too functional right now to mess with. But the second it gives me lip, it’ll get the ‘CyanogenMod treatment’. (Again)

Netbook loses
Looks like with a tablet there really is no need for a netbook. Not a huge surprise, as our netbook was gathering dust anyways. I will say that I love having the netbook around more then I thought I would. I think my next trip will be sans laptop. We’ll see how that goes. May root my phone again too.
VEGAn 7.0RC1 Gingerbread goodness!
So, Switched from CGM7.0.0 to VEGAn-7.0RC1 and already I like it. From the split keyboard to better layout it looks good. Install was via Clockwork mod in recovery mode. (For anyone doing this with a fresh gTab, note I used the nvflash to get it back to 2xxx version of the TnT before upgrading to CGM7 originally. Going from 3588 did not work for me at all.)
Also, on the battery side, showed it to...
Okay... secret sauce time...
To get the gTablet properly mucked… revert it first. I used these instructions to revert the gTablet to a 2xxx version. Mine was 3588 and though people say you can upgrade from there, I could not.
Once that was finished, I just followed the brain-dead simple instructions here. Now its all CGM7 happy. (Edit: I picked the manual flash via clockwork mod, not using the RomManager)
Initial...
gTablet mucked with...
I’ll post more later. I’ve now voided any warranty associated with my gTablet. I could not get the Gingerbread version of VEGAn or CWM working, so I pushed it back to the Froyo version of VEGAn. It was nice, but I’m going to try the 3855 TnT variant again. (Stock) and see if its livable. Main issue is wanting it to work with USB devices.

Viewsonic's tablet...
I ended up getting the Viewsonic ‘gTablet’ at the ‘cheaper’ $280 price. Its a 10.1 inch model with decent specs, mediocre screen and iffy version of Android ‘desktop’ on it. Goal is two fold. First, update the OS to a better version. Second, see if a tablet is even useful. Figure I’d document here the progress.

Pandora, meet Scrobbler
Scrobbler (last.fm in web 2.0 speak) has a bunch of recommendations for me. I’m making a station purely on those recommendations.
Looks like 3 artists out of 20 were not found. Kirlian Camera, Frightdoll and The Luna Sequence.

Why is missing. Twitter search #whereiswhy has turned up nothing but commentary and the misery of his fans.
If Why is really gone, then I am really sad.
